Targeted Initiatives
The Richmond region has actively and successfully recruited international companies since the early 1980s. This long history and commitment results in a community that offers a broad array of services, programs, and infrastructure, combined with a deep pool of knowledge that is focused on the unique requirements of international business.
Targeted international initiatives include the Virginia Bioscience Commercialization Center based at the Virginia Biotechnology Research Park. This 34-acre research complex is located in downtown Richmond and adjacent to the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center and hospitals. The Commercialization Center grew out of an Israeli-focused bioscience initiative that complemented the park’s successful Incubator program for U.S.-based start-ups.
